Modern Meets the Neighborhood!​ When we purchased the building in June of 2019, Bethel lost a beloved dive bar, The Funky Red Barn, an apres-ski institution known for its live music and late night dancing. We preserved the barn, but lost the funk. We painted the building a sleek cool gray, built a wine room where pool tables once stood, and bumped late night pizzas off the menu in favor of oysters on the half shell.  

Modern Barn has a decidedly neighborhood vibe, combining friendly service, a unique blend of Maine's coastal cuisine with Mediterranean and globally inspired seasonal dishes.. ​Woven into everything that we do, our passion for top-of-the-catch fish, fine wines and unforgettable service has been recognized time and time again. Some of our accolades include Downeast Magazine, Open Table Diner's Choice Award and Wine Spectator.   Modern Barn is honored to receive a Wine Spectator  2024, 2023 & 2021 Restaurant Award of Excellence.  Our Wine Room - features a curated collection of 175 bottles of wine, most available by the glass. Modern Barn also offers an impressive liquor collection, over 50 single malt scotches, contemporary cocktails and craft beers.   ​
